Running into pain. TBT for Shin Splints.

If you've ever experienced a stabbing pain shooting down the front of your leg - one that's so bad it's telling you to slow down right now - it probably means you have run smack into shin splints, a very common problem for running and jumping athletes, which means it affects a lot of ball sports players, even social joggers and power walkers.

There are many theories why shin splints occur, one theory is the condition most often caused by not properly warming up the fascia and collagenic Sharpey’s fibres. These work like sticky human Velcro, binding the muscles, tendons and ligaments to your bones with a fish hook-like grip.

The primary muscle affected in shin splints, the tibialis anterior, is very thin and runs directly down the tibia or shin bone. It is responsible for dorsi flexion, which means it literally lifts up your toes to stop you tripping over them. It also stabilises your ankle each time your foot hits the ground.

Tennis Ball Technique

You may have heard an old quote "when you need a cop they are never around!" ... well we found the same thing applied to getting good remedial therapy for sore muscles "when you need a massage therapist, they are always all booked up!"

So we developed TBT for me, and now for you too!

After months of trying things like those big expensive rollers you see in gyms, golf balls, even cricket balls, and eventually found that High Pressure Competition Grade tennis balls when used the right way are 'just right' to get in and loosen up those tight muscles, without doing damage to the surrounding tissue and nerves.
